I got another voucher from Deal Grocer, this time, at the high-end salon Le Maquillage. They offered Schwarzkopf Hair Color and Color Freeze treatment at around Php1800. Schwarzkopf is from Germany, so you can expect a top of the line product, coupled with the salon's certified professional service. Securing your appointment is easy. Just call and reserve your spot. Confirmation was quick too. When I arrived, front desk staff just took a photo of the voucher in my phone. No forms, no papers. I like it.

Located at the 3rd floor of the modern Zuellig building in Makati Avenue. The stylist told me that they'll be moving, yet again, to Manila Pen, perhaps next month (November).

I was offered coffee, water, hot tea, iced tea.

Really nice 'hair rinse area'. The chair would slowly incline to near-horizontal level with the push of a button. It's all automatic and quite convenient. They also use warm water for shampooing and rinsing, so no shocking sensations. I love the mini neck couch included in the chair. No neck sores whatsoever. Especially since my Color Freeze treatment was spent 10 minutes lying on one of these chairs.

Remarks:

All in all, I was very satisfied with my visit. Stylists were friendly, not too chatty, but definitely knows their stuff when you ask them about treatments.
Whole place was gorgeous, and spotless. One staff was immediately hair sweeping after a client left.
Will definitely go back.

Aaron's Hair Salon in Alphaland Makati Place is the 3rd branch of this Korean salon. I got a discount voucher from Metrodeal for a Hair Rebond Php1500 service fee, which was worth Php7000 (according to Metrodeal), so it was a really huge deal. In reality, Rebonding for medium length hair would cost you Php3000 in Aaron Hair Salon. But that's still 50% discount, and I was really happy with their service! So all in all, a thumbs up experience.

The salon was nice, clean, and bright. The red couches were lovely. There were only 3 staff at the time of visit. One stylist, and 2 assistants. One of the owners or manager, who is Korean, came later in the afternoon. She was also nice.

They offered us tea, or coffee. Their 'hair washing' station was really comfy. I got used to cheaper salons like Index which uses sturdy black basins. You had to lift your head most times so the staff can wash all of your hair. Here at Aaron's, you just lie your head down and relax. The basin includes a neck rest which fits just right, and all your glorious hair gets washed.

Remarks:

We actually loved this salon. I wasn't used to high-end salons, but perhaps it's time to change that. It does equal better service, and somewhat higher assurance of proper safety and hygiene.
Comfort Room is close to their location. Just outside the salon to your left is the mall's toilet. It was impeccably clean and modern.
The hair cream they used for Rebonding didn't sting at all. Unlike the ones in Index. Not that I mind the stinging (in other salons), but it's a pleasant surprise to actually have a better experience with rebonding. Plus it was only 3 hours, compared to 4-5 hours in others.
It is best to call their branch first to schedule your service. They only acknowledge one (1) Metrodeal voucher per day. But they can accommodate other services, provided you can wait your turn when there's only one stylist available.

*This is an update to my 2nd round of Lip Tint procedures at Pretty Looks (see my 1st Lip Tint review last year at Pretty Looks Ortigas).
Pretty Looks now have a branch at The Fort BGC. Very convenient for us near Makati and the south. The new clinic has a high ceiling, prepped in white walls and a lovely pink accent color. The branch just opened this year and they're still polishing the whole clinic. There was a comfort room for staff only, but clients can use it if they want. It's not designed at all but it's clean, functional and quite roomy.

There's a bright lounge area where guests can wait. Magazines are available to keep you occupied. One wall is all glass, while the other features some cosmetic/beauty products they sell. Pretty Looks BGC is located along the same building as The Early Bird Breakfast Club, facing the parking lot at The Fort Strip, which is always full. We usually park at Bonifacio High Street Central and just walk the block across.

This is where you'll most probably be seated when the topical anesthesia is applied on your lips. Since they have limited space, just read some mags and bear the 40-minute wait by the corner. It's not that embarrassing at all, with other guests in the same place. You're all there for some procedures anyway.

Product display on the way. The small hallway leads to the beds where you'll have your lip tint or eyebrow procedure, or whatever else. The toilet and staff room is to the right.

They've ditched using injections for anesthesia. A topical cream is used instead, but you have to let your lips absorb it for 40-minutes, hence the waiting. Make sure to have the staff put a LOT of cream all over your lips - inner and outer part. This is crucial when you're having your lip tinted. It could sting so bad (and painful) if the anesthetic cream missed a spot. The lip tattoo pen will run over and over same spots to get it right. If you're not numb in some areas, the pain multiplies there.

Although only separated by sheer curtains, the facilities are clean, light, and relaxing. Towels are provided on the bed, and another one is offered for you, for cover, in case you get cold.

They promised sterile equipment and materials.

Right after the tint procedure, there were black, bruise-looking spots on my lips. This all went away after the peeling.

My 2nd procedure in BGC was so much better. This photo was taken hours after the procedure. Less pain, as I've requested loads of anesthetic topical cream. No bruises, less swelling, very impressive job. I wish I caught the name of the lady who performed the tinting.

I had a voucher for these 2 sessions from Ensogo for a whopping Php1199 per Lip Tint, for a Php10,000 value. Such a steal! Thanks Pretty Looks!

I bought Zylovir Aciclovir from Pretty Looks for about Php200-300, I forgot exactly how much. It's not compulsory as you can use any Antiviral/Antibacterial cream.

I still trust Pretty Looks for these kind of procedures. They've seem to have pioneered it and continues to improve their services.
I love that they offer discounted vouchers every now and then.

Lay Bare has broken the wall of personal grooming and delivered glorified waxing to the masses. I love their affordable rates, trained attendants, and uniformed branches; although not too much loving the green and brown motif, it was a nice touch nonetheless. Most branches inside malls get filled during weekends, from opening to closing. Most mall branches are full after office hours. Some branches accept reservations, while others follow the strict first-come-first-serve basis. When you arrive, list your name and you can wait inside, or leave and they will send you a text when you're next.

Some of their branches have limited stalls, so only 3 or 4 clients can have their services done at the same time. Still, every inch is kept clean. Their personalized radio/music station plays in rotation.

Each room has a high bed, floor lamp, trash bin, service items, fans, and mirror.

The attendants handle the clients well. I've never encountered an amateur waxer or threader. Just always be honest with what you want, especially with your brows because you cannot hide it. You can borrow the hand-held mirror (they always have it) and watch your brow getting serviced.

Having tried other beauty clinics for brow threading, brow waxing, and leg waxes, I don't see anything less in Lay Bare in terms of the service they provide. I love that they made their rates low enough for everyone. I've never tried Brazilian Wax here because it would take 40mins to 1hr, compared to just around 15-20mins in Strip.

Contours Advanced Face and Body Sculpting Institute, Magallanes

I decided to try Contours' Underarm Laser Hair Removal which I got on a discounted price via online voucher. The clinic is located at Paseo de Magallanes, where there are practically no jeepney routes nearby. Taxis come quite frequently but you have to wait your turn as there's no official taxi stand and people just go further up the road to get the cabs first.

Anyway, the guard would ask where you're heading and will not ask for an ID anymore if it's only to Contours. You can also just walk up the stairs (2nd floor). Receptionists were all pretty and friendly. Somehow they also do the services themselves, which makes them all-around busy bees.

Love the spa ambiance. Corridor leads to private rooms.

The attendant left me for a while and asked me to wear the red robe for the UA IPL. She gathered the machine and materials to be used for my session.

Quite clean and functional, wonder how many donned this same robe.

Underarm Laser Hair Removal: Php650 via voucher (worth Php3000).
Naturally, I have few UA hairs from the start, and I wasn't able to use all of my vouchers (8pcs). By my 5th session there was practically none, up to now.

UA IPL sessions take about 3 weeks interval. You cannot shave or pluck. Just get back to your next session and let the IPL machine take care of it. The machine makes a low sound each time the laser zaps you, so you can brace for it. Pain is forgettable, like an insect bite. My attendant was very nice and she answered all my questions about the whole process.

I like the calm environment and privacy given per client.

Remarks:

For me, Contours' Underarm Laser Hair Removal worked! Up to now, no hair whatsoever. There are some almost invisible ones and super small, but unnoticeable.
Eventhough it's on voucher, I was glad that they used the full service on me because it was successful and I'm really happy.
Their other services are more on the expensive side, so I'm not sure I'll be availing any of it anytime soon. But I'm always on the lookout for voucher promos from Contours.

Aesthetic Science is my go-to clinic for facials and diamond peel. I love the clean and serene vibe of their clinic, with orange and beige theme, calming aroma, and magazines for waiting. Reception also take time sending you a reminder text for your appointment.

Note that they prefer scheduling sessions on the hour, like 5PM, not 5:30PM, or they will bump you to 6PM. I also notice that they keep records of all your services, and always check them before your next session. I love this personalized service because they note your varying skin conditions and give great advice on what's best for you.

Machines used for facials and steaming. Diamond peel machine is rolled in if needed. Each facial also includes pimple injections, if you have one or more. They're complimentary with the service. In Flawless Clinic, pimple injection costs Php100 each, while at Skin Station, it's around Php240+ each.

Common toilet is furnished with tissues and is well maintained.

Remarks:

I'm all praises for Aesthetic Science because they helped me with my breakout a few years ago. I was never the one to have acne, but suddenly I couldn't get rid of it. Only in Aesthetic Science did one of their dermatologists advised me to stop using a facial moisturizer because my skin is oily. Other clinics only offered me more and more treatments. But that simple note alone was the beginning of the end of my breakout! Now my skin is clear again :)
I often make appointments for their Glycolic Acid Cleaning (45mins): Php680 and Glycolic Acid Cleaning with Diamond Peel (1hr 15mins): Php1580. I feel that their procedure gives me more attention in a sense that there's a bit of facial massage, took more time in each step from cleaning to scrubbing or polishing. The session could easily take 1hour, unlike in other clinics when the facial took merely a few minutes and more one up-selling.
When I've decided to try their Classic Facial (1hr 15mins): Php980, I was advised instead to opt for Honey Almond Polish (45mins): P680, because the Classic Facial might not help with my oily skin at the time. I was glad that they put their customers first and not lose integrity over a couple of hundred bucks.
