La Rica Hotel, Tacloban:
Remarks:
I would recommend this for a short stay. It's not a luxury or boutique hotel but the hotel covers every necessary amenities in each room. In terms for cleanliness, the room looks decent. We didn't find any stray hairs or trash anywhere.
We never got to try any of their offerings at the restaurant because there are a lot of nearby food chains like Chowking, Dunkin Donut (24 hours), and McDonald's. Location is one thing the hotel can brag about. It's at the center of the downtown pulse.
If you're in a rush, and the with the long list of Tacloban cheap hotels in the area, you can safely go straight to La Rica Hotel for a sure stay. Rooms range from Php750 to Php1350 only (no breakfast).

The Spanish-Filipino inspired lobby is small yet warm. Somehow, the harsh light from outside makes it dull on daytime, but it certainly sparkles at night. |
The marker behind the concierge bears the hotel name |
Others may find it too much, with the clashing colors and decors, but the hotel proves passionate about local festivals and tend to celebrate in high spirits. |
A corridor leads to the elevator, stairs, and restaurant (far end). A few wooden chairs are placed against the wall for random guests. Magazines are available for sale. |
The elevator comes right before the front desk. The front door leads straight to Zamora Street, one of the busiest in the city. |
At night, some subdued lights are lit. The theme matches the local festival at the time. |
The overall yellowish hue could look dirty at some point, and paired with brown mouldings, the area seem dark at times and poorly designed. Still, everything is organized and maintained. |
Stairs |
The second floor is a Function Hall for meetings, celebrations, events |
Stairs from 2nd to 3rd floor |
The corridors and stairwell appear to be sanitary and well lit. |

We chose the Twin Bedroom. It was sized comfortably. An overhang dresser with a mirror is convenient. |
The bed covers are a plus, considering this is a small hotel. A pillow and flat sheet underneath. Some small hotels have no duvet-like sheets. |
Cable TV set and some electrical sockets are available. The windows are covered as there's no pleasant view outside. |
Each phone is patched through various hotel departments. |
Complimentary soap with personalized wrap |
Bathroom facilities are decent. A heater and sink. No bidet though, but they provide a pail and dipper. |
Very clinical in design, but it looks ok. |
The hotel provides a towel per person as well. |
