Our visit to Lon Wa Buddhist Temple was an unexpected surprise. We wanted to round up tourist spots in Davao City and grabbed a cab to take us here. The temple is located at Cabaguio Avenue, about 3-4km from city centre. Sun was high up and heat was blinding. The guard welcomed us as we enter the gates. We told him we're just here to visit, and asked if we could take photos. He told us it's ok but we have to wait for one of the staff to accompany us.
The staff ushered us around the temple, showing us different rooms. This prayer room with high ceiling is where most resident monks and nuns come for solitude. Some sections are not open to public. We found a female monk who was friendly and even allowed to be photographed with my mom.
This prayer room is beautiful and very solemn. According to our guide, ashes of dead temple members are kept here with the Golden Thousand-Armed Kuan Yin, Goddess of Mercy.
The lights look like lit candles, but they're not.
If you look closer, there are tiny golden statues inside the lit coves.
Another area inside the temple.
