Alab

Alab by Chef Tatung, is a fiery restaurant featuring Filipino dishes with a kick and a twist. Located at Venice Grand Canal Mall in McKinley Hills, it offers a view of the canal and passing gondolas. Staff were welcoming and warm, and quick to inform us which dishes were not available that day.

Inside, it was a modern, demi-sophistiqué affair. Red was prominent, with strong hues of musky brown and neutrals.

Long tables can accommodate big groups.

Remarks:

• The monggo soup was nice. It was prepped like a cream soup, which was fine with me. My mom preferred the usual, though. 
• Kinilaw was ok. Although I have relatives who can whip up better kinilaws, my dad finished the whole plate.
• Tilapia was decent.
