Canyon Cove

Canyon Cove had long been an out-of-reach resort, mainly due to its pricey rates. Until recently when they joined the coupon-voucher wagon and offered some discount packages.
The grand lobby has a gigantic chandelier hanging over the marbled floors, facing the majestic view of the sky and ocean outdoors.
Superior Room - Overnight for 4pax (2 adults, 2 kids) with free 1-hour kayak and 10% discount on food and beverages (dine-in) at the hotel restaurant: Php2999 (voucher rates)
The luxurious beds were more than enough to visit Canyon Cove. The fresh duvet and soft sheets were relaxing. Each room gets a small balcony facing the ocean. And a day bed by the window could accommodate small children.
Flat screen TV, mini fridge, vanity, a slim counter where guests could eat comes with 2 bar chairs .
Complimentary bottled water, thermos, instant coffee sachets
Bathroom is a little stark, but very roomy. The hot water wasn't so heated but warm enough.
No bidet here, which was unexpected. Although there's a phone and hair dryer
Hotel soaps, bath gels, and shampoos
Closet with hangers and mini vault
The vast property consists of a landscaped garden with colored tile borders
The beach is powdery but not too soft. It's a little hard on the feet but maintained nonetheless. Good thing is that it's very sandy underwater. You can swim barefoot and not step on any urchins or corals.
Garden paths between the hotel and the shores
At night, the pool is off limits come 9PM, while the beach is closed from 6PM.
Still, it's nice to wander around the sparkly lights and under the moonlight
The complimentary kayak could get messy. As most rooms were from discounted coupons, everyone has free kayak. You could get irritated waiting. Especially when they ran out of beach towels. You cannot take your room towel outdoors. They provide you with a large striped  pool/beach towel, if only there were enough for everyone.
I prefer private pools, for sanitary reasons. But I was assured that they clean the pool daily.
Floating boundary for swimmers. Stay within the area for safety.
Kayak
Playground for kids. I found that kids prefer the pool, and the swing seats were wet.
Seating areas in clusters. First come, first served. And if you're a Day-Tripper, I guess you get your own cabana for your things.
More lounge areas.
Large pool. There's a separate private pool for Canyon Cove resident unit owners. I saw an old grandpa swimming alone. The guard informed me that a lot of retirees get residential units and live the slow and relaxing resort life.

Room Service Menu - (Max's Restaurant)

Blu Bar. I never got to try this. Others recommend driving back to town for lunch or dinner because Canyon Cove's in-house restaurant is pricey. But if you're good with Max's, then you won't be disappointed.
The restaurant is split into 2 open rooms. It's fully packed during dinner and their last call is around 9PM, if I remember well.
Breakfast buffet is at the same dining area, with an extended room available for more guests. The breakfast spread is set-up in the middle with 3 viands - sweet ham, bangus, and bacon.
Fried rice, scramble eggs. Mind the flies that managed to get in.
Bread, butter, and cereals
Fruits
Buffet plate
Corn cereal

Remarks:
  • Canyon Cove is located at the end of Piloto Wawa. As you near the arc, a huge entryway crops out of nowhere on the left side, seemingly out-of-place in so many levels.
  • Guards will check your reservation before allowing entry. You will be given a car number in exchange for your ID. You surrender the number when you leave the premises.
  • A separate parking area is allotted for private vehicles, and another for buses and shuttles.
  • You can also walk up the pedestrian walkway if you opted to commute. Guards will still check your reservation by the gates.
  • In all honesty, I like Canyon Cove, but I found a small mouse running along the electrical wires behind the cabinets in our room. Although the room is clean, I notice the doors have ample space at the bottom for mice or cockroaches to enter. All corridors are open and lead to the beach or the parking area, so it's not really a surprise that I spotted one. No foul smell whatsoever.
  • Perhaps it's best if guests don't keep any food inside rooms, or at least put them in the fridge.
  • All in all, it's a really nice place, well landscaped. The grand architecture facing the ocean appears like a curved Spanish villa of some sort. It's great get-away spot.
