Philippine Tarsier Foundation Inc

The Philippine Tarsier Foundation located at Corella, Bohol, is the better choice for viewing tarsiers. Personally, I prefer to see them relaxed and in their natural state, rather than in the middle of chaos with fellow tourists. From Tagbilaran, it's a 16km ride to the tarsier sanctuary.
When you arrive, you can park your car or motorcycle anywhere near the entrance hut. You have to register here, and then you can proceed to the Research Center. There's a minimal fee of around Php50 per person.
The place is so natural. Chirping birds, breezy wind, fresh air.. Very humbling to be surrounded with such clean environment, especially to someone hailed from the city. Instant brain detox.
The Research Center is a simple structure which handles the preservation and care for the tarsiers. You will pay the tour fee here and wait for the assigned guide.
Here, groups are taken about 4 at a time inside the sanctuary. It's a large forest, with wire fence as boundary. You must observe silence at all times, and not disturb the trees and plants as there might be tiny animal dwellers nearby.
The guides know exactly where, which tree, which part of the tree the tarsiers are hiding. Even if you spend the whole day looking for them on your own, you'll probably never spot one as their skin color practically blend with the branches and hide under leaves.
Very cute tarsier gave us the time of day. The others were either asleep or located very far up the tree. This one woke up and just within reach. Perfect.

  1. Very interesting blog. A lot of blogs I see these days don't really provide anything that attract others, but I'm most definitely interested in this one. Just thought that I would post and let you know.
