Malate Pensionne is one of the decent city hotels. It's located smack in the middle of Malate, with a connecting door to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, walking distance to shops, bars, and many Korean restaurants. There's a courtyard garden in the compound with tables and plants. Limited parking slots in front, along Adriatico Road. Internet cafes, spa massages, and other services are available across the street. If you need budget,-cheapo food, just walk to the corner (Remedios Street) and you'll find affordable eateries.
